Launch your Kindle book as pre-order
By jhomf.com on September 21, 2014

You always see these high-dollar, major publisher books set up in the Kindle Store as a pre-order. I didn’t know that just anyone could do this until I stumbled across it on Amazon.
With a pre-order set up for your book
- Customers can order your book as early as 90 days before your book’s release date
- The book will be delivered to them on the release date
Why would you want to do this?
- You can start promoting your book before launch to help raise customer awareness (hype)
- You can promote your book’s pre-order page on Author Central, Goodreads, your own site, anywhere
- Pre-orders contribute toward sales rank and other Kindle Store merchandising even before your book is released, and that can help more readers discover your book
How to do it:
- When you’re adding a new book, on Step 4, “Select Your Book Release Option,” choose “Make my book available for pre-order”
- Set a date in the future
- You can list pre-order books in all marketplaces except Amazon.com.in
- You must upload the final version or a draft manuscript of the book file for review
- Your final version must be uploaded at least 10 days before the release date
- If you raise the final price, the readers get the price they saw when they pre-ordered
- If you lower the final price, they get the better deal
It’s good for authors and good for readers!
